Volkswagen, the premiere German car manufacturer received a great round of applause for one of its prime model, Volkswagen Polo bagged the top honor at the Business Standard Motoring Awards 2011. The compact car of Volkswagen grabbed the top title of the Business Standard Car of the Year Award. The propitious occasion was glorified with the jargon of automobile industry that gathered in Mumbai. A representative from the entertainment industry, the actor Chitrangada Sing also graced the occasion. The award nominations and selection was done and comprised of an experienced jury. This was composed by past and present motor-sport drivers, motoring experts a well as respected Business Standard Motoring team members. The most intense of the competition was observed among the car models that were launched last year. There were a total of 10 aspirants that were present in the category that are all holding exceptional performance in the market. The number of contenders made the competition for the top position tough and complicated for the members of the jury. The award was accepted by the Director of Sales and Marketing of Hyundai Motor India, Arvind Saxena. The Premium Car of the Year award was given to the German luxury car manufacturer, BMW for its exclusive BMW 5 series. The award was received by Rodney Woods, the Director of Finance for BMW India. The Premium Sports Utility Vehicle of the Year was awarded to Porsche Cayenne while the Performance Car of the Year award was given to Mercedes Benz SLS AMG. Volkswagen Motorsport and Volvo XC60 were among the winners of the auto show as well.
