Many women seem to have love affairs with older model classics. Women also tend to choose their potential new rides with the practical factor, whereas men tend to choose from the heart. For women however, cars like the Austin / Morris Mini, Mercedes-Benz SL-Class, Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud (not that many of you men will be rushing out to purchase one of these as a chick-magnet, but it’s on the list), and the older model BMW’s, specifically the 1971 3.0 CS and the 1968 to 1976 2002 model Beamers. The latter year will definitely cost a hefty lot for replacement parts if need be as these are considered classics and require a lot of upkeep.

Also making the list of women’s favourite cars are a few of the newer models such as the Ford Mustang Convertible, the Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder and the Volvo S40. While the Mitsubishi Eclipse was the most popular car amongst women in 2005, the safer Volvo S40 took over that position in 2007.

A few other sporty cars that topped the ladies’ list were the Porche 911 GT3 R and the Bentley Continental GTC along with a few of the Volkswagen models. The New Beetle, which became convertible in 2007, had the highest percentage of women divers according to J.D. Power. A whopping 56.1 per cent of New Beetles are registered to women. Sixty-one per cent of Volkswagen Tiguans are also owned by women.

Ironically the Citroen 2CV the French-made vehicle also made the list, most likely for practicality reasons. Whether you are a man or a woman, doing the proper research when buying a used car is essential to avoid purchasing a lemon. Looking at reliability ratings and consumer reports are a good place to start. There are also many books on the market that rate new and used vehicles that can help you with your search. Then, once you have narrowed down make and model and are looking at a particular vehicle, being sure that there are no outstanding liens against the car and that the car is accident-free is crucial to ensuring you are getting a great used car and not a nightmare.

The sleek, midsize luxury automobile is available as a coupe, wagon, sedan or convertible. Its primary competitors are the Audi A4/A5, the Infiniti G37 and the Mercedes-Benz C class cars. The BMW 3 Series is available in both rear wheel and front wheel drive. The exterior of the vehicle has been mildly tweaked, its body being both longer and slightly higher. The vehicle is fresh and modern, making it a great compromise for someone looking for something sporty but elegant.

This year, BMW introduces increased fuel-efficiency with fuel-efficient smaller engines in the 3 Series vehicles. In addition, they’re offering a limited edition N55 model that is more fuel-efficient and cleaner-burning than ever. Finally, you can put your environmental guilt to rest while still being able to drive a top of the line luxury vehicle! Plus, the vehicle’s performance and power don’t waiver: the 2011 BMW 3 Series continues to perform in line with BMW’s unwavering dedication to durable, vigorous machines. Other notable mentions to this year’s 3 Series are its intuitive handling, massive torque and smooth engine lineup.

The 2011 BMW 3 Series comes equipped with a functional interior, exuding comfort and luxury. It boasts extremely high-quality front seat comfort, with only slightly less space for the back passengers, and more than adequate storage space. Because the 3 Series is considered a compact vehicle, these compromises in space are natural and hard to avoid. Overall, the interior of the car follows in line with the rest of the 3 Series’ attention to detail and luxury.

One noted downfall of the 2011 BMW 3 Series is the hefty price tag it comes with it. Depending on the features and add-ons, the final price of your customized 2011 BMW 3 Series can be quite steep. Used BMW 3 Series automobiles are a great option for those looking to save money without sacrificing quality. If you’re interested in learning more about new and used vehicles, the Leggat Auto Group can help.

Let me quote an example. I did a search on Google for average price of a used car and the results churned up a price tag of 50-80% of the retail value. In my book, that is an awful lot of money to be spending on used cars. You could be spending a few hundreds or thousands of dollars more, and you end up with a spanking new car in your garage. So, how exactly do you buy a used car for real cheap?

Seized Car Auctions. Yes. You are hearing it right. How many people in the United States are aware of the fact that literally thousands of cars are being seized by Government, law enforcement and financial agencies? Where do all these cars go? Parking tickets, unpaid bank premium, foreclosure penalties, and the list goes on. This will make their parking yards look like a junkyard. The very idea of maintaining these vehicles in proper conditions will cost these agencies a fortune. Not to mention the effort of saving these government properties from prying eyes. This only leads to one logical solution. Auction off the cars at the least possible cost.

This is where we come into play. You are looking for a used car, and the government is auctioning them away. So, who benefits? Its just a matter of thought. And interestingly, you will be precisely awestruck by hearing the cost at which these cars are being auctioned. You can literally bid and buy a used car for around a whopping 90% off on the retail price tag. Is this a scam? No. These are government properties that are being auctioned so as to clear up the useful Government space. Imagine owning your dream car at just a fraction of the cost of a new car!

Another important thing is that you can literally choose your favourite car from a number of automobile makes and models. You search for it, you get it. How appealing does this sound? Some of the most popular car makes and models includes Audi, BMW, Mercedes Benz, GMC, Ford, Toyota, Honda, and you name it. All these cars are at the most two to three years old, and are mostly in top condition. Apart from the seized group, there are also cars from the retired breed, which are more likely excluded from the various Government departments so as to accommodate newer models.

So what are you waiting for? Get your thinking caps on and see how you can benefit from this excellent opportunity of driving away your dream car.

With all of the talk lately about the newest BMW M5 F10 model coming out late this year there has been little attention given to the fact that Mercedes Benz is also launching a new E63 AMG model into production. Like the F10 model, the E63 will squeeze out all 518 horses through a downsized, twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8. That’s a significant step downward (in terms of engine size) from the 6.2-liter V8 that used to produce 518 horsepower and 465 ft-lb of torque, which is certainly an improvement in power efficiency considering an increase in torque for the new 5.5 liter V8 while no loss in horsepower.

It appears that with the latest CAFE (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) standards that most performance auto makers are stepping away from naturally aspirated 8, 10 and 12 cylinder engines and most manufactures that are sticking with 8 cylinder engines are now looking to turbochargers for added performance. The new BMW M5 F10 features a much smaller 4.4-liter twin turbo V8 that pumps out 560 horsepower and 502 ft-lb of torque, getting the sleek sedan from 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds. The E63 AMG will also reach 60 mph in 4.4 seconds which is all fun and dandy until you whip out the AMG’s Performance Pack.

You see, unlike the new M5, AMG is offering a “Performance Pack” that will boost (no pun intended) output to 550 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque; a significant torque advantage over the new M5, especially considering that the Performance Pack will push the E63 to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds, about half a second faster than the M5.

Of course, you can still expect to have a luxurious interior, with 14-speaker Harman Kardon surround-sound, 14-way power adjustable seats, or a HD 7-inch screen but what’s the point if you buy an AMG? The only thing you’ll probably notice is the seat squeezing your butt cheeks as you propel past the F10 M5 on the highway waving friendly gestures to indicate that there is absolutely no rivalry between the two performance manufacturers.

But will you be able to afford the fly-by? The new M5 will have an estimated MSRP of $93,000, while the E63 is estimated to go for approximately $87,000 which seems reasonably close but there is no point in getting the E63 AMG unless you upgrade the power with the Performance Pack which will cost you a Kia Rio on top of the MSRP, or an additional $12,900.

The E63 is no doubt going to be a fantastic sports sedan that will certainly please the car enthusiast that wants to be both practical and fast at the same time. The styling improvements and engine enhancements will certainly make the E63 one of the best looking and fastest sedans on the market in 2012 but BMW is also a force to be reckoned with. I’m sure we’ll be seeing plenty of competitive rivalries continue to grow on as the two German manufacturers continue to make some of the best cars in the world.

Hello and welcome to Mercedes-Benz Ireland lens – we will try and deliver the latest news, offers and announcements on mercedes cars in Ireland. Along with beepbeep.ie we hope you will enjoy this lens along with a list of used mercedes cars available in Ireland and other exciting features

Two-in-a-row for Mercedes HGV’s

Society of the Irish Motor Industry figures for the year just ended show that sales of Mercedes-Benz Actros, Axor and Atego trucks totalled 161 units, equal to a 15.8% market share. DAF and Volvo took second and third place respectively with 147 units (14.4%) and 118 units (11.6%).

The overall number of heavy commercial vehicles registered in 2010 came to 1,020 units, a reduction of 131 units (-11.4%) compared with 2009 – a year in which Mercedes-Benz also topped the market with 199 units (18%) sold.

In 2009, Actros was voted International Truck of the Year, an accolade won this year by the Atego.

Hybrid for the E-Class

At the Geneva Motor Show Mercedes-Benz is proud to introduce the E 300 BlueTEC HYBRID, taking an exciting look forward at a diesel hybrid which will be coming onto the market at the end of 2011. It combines the 2.2-litre diesel engine delivering 150 kW (204 hp) with a powerful hybrid module. The electric motor with 15 kW is located between the combustion engine and the 7-speed automatic transmission and supports the diesel engine when accelerating (boost effect). It is also possible to drive in electric mode only, and energy is recuperated during braking. This model sees Mercedes-Benz breaking down the barriers between the mild and full hybrid. Preliminary measurements show that consumption will be around 4.5 litres per 100 kilometres (CO2 below 120 g/km).

Did you know that….

“What Car?”, the biggest British consumer organisation for car buyers, has give Mercedes-Benz the Car of the Year Award 2010 for the best safety innovation? The prize was awarded for the ATTENTION ASSIST, which can warn the driver against overtiredness.

Since 1978 the IWMA (Irish Motoring Writers Association) have been holding a poll to find the best car of the year? Last November the 27-strong jury named the E-Class the “Car of the Year 2010″ in its category.

It is possible to achieve fuel savings of up to 15 percent simply by adopting an economical and energy-efficient driving style? Mercedes-Benz “ECO driver training” courses have shown this to be the case.
